Thanks for the replies, the problem is not knowing which side of the fence you need to be on, as mentioned before with the family I wasn't prepared to risk crossing the fence without a proper stile. The usual route from the Strickeen side is well blocked & the fence is the problem, with the fence rising sharply, we were going to follow it but the possibility that it came to a cliff or rock outcrop was in the back of our minds & the kids not happy about being off the track the walk was shortened..
The difficulty in this fence is the barbed wire is higher than a normal fence & a heck of a lot sharper than the 'old fashioned stuff' with a very high risk of tearing the expensive rain gear at the least & a small chance of puncturing your femoral artery if you slipped..... Not good anywhere especially on a mountain!
What are the rules about fences like this & blocking what I would assume is a 'right of way'
