Re: Blackstairs Mt or Mt Leinster
Hi Conor, I did Mt. Leinster and Blackstairs in a day a couple of weeks ago, neither take long or pose much of a challenge. If you're really stuck for time, you can be up and down Mt. Leinster by the road to the mast in no time at all, but there's nothing really to recommend it, except that its a county high point. Blackstairs Mt. is much more pleasant, its a nice stroll from near the Sculloge Gap, the route up by Caher Roe's Den to the south looked quite pleasant too. The only shame is the whole mountain seems to have been burnt quite recently, so not much to see near at hand, but the views make up for it.
Will be in Wexford.. by Conor74   (Show all posts)

I think the highest point is likely about 175 metres in a WSW direction from the mast. I'm judging this from aerial photography and DTM which shows a rocky outcrop in a small forest clearing. DTM ...

Might be worth adding that Ballymoyle Hill might be more appropriate name for this height. Called that in Coillte records. Whilst Barranisky is spelt thus on OS six inch maps, note that Hall Nevil...
