The summit question...
...surely it's as far as one is permitted to go. Not sure about Sandman, but see almost 300 here claim to have summitted Cruach Mhor...yet how many have really gone to the highest point and actually climbed up on top of the grotto? Suspect the same might be said for Croagh Patrick, if the roof of the chapel is the high point who has hopped on it? I'd suspect not many, because one is not supposed to and think this site might run into some criticism if it was seen to advocate taking such measures. Where access to the summit is not allowed, either cos it's fenced off like the Skelligs or a point inside say some telecommunications compound, or even where clearly one ought not to, like Cruach Mhor, think it's fine to tick it off even where the highest point has not been reached.
