MV and Facebook
I know Facebook isn't for everyone but for many (including myself) it is an excellent resource for communicating with friends and family and a great way of discussing topics with people of similar tastes and interests. It does, of course, have its drawbacks but more and more clubs and organisations are using it as a great way for their members to stay in touch, share experiences and interact socially.

I can't help but feel that MV is missing out by not having a strong FB presence and not utilising FB as a way to help its members interact and to attract new members.

I have a feeling that many people here will knock down this suggestion but remember that those interacting here are only a small subset of the overall membership, that many members don't use the forum as it's not easy to access and/or track and that many more will welcome more FB integration.

I see that MV already has a FB presence at https://www.facebook.com/pages/mountainviewsie/100944896615786 but it only has 15 likes. It would be great to see this page promoted via the newsletter and on MV itself.
