"Modern turf cutting." from simon3 Expand pics
Modern turf cutting. (Expand pics)
Call for upland photos - progress.
In last month's newsletter we called for photos of how the uplands are used and what you can find in them. Not just what is of interest to walkers.

I'm glad to say we got a couple of replies including this one which shows modern turf cutting.

We are particularly looking for anything on:
Blanket bog with traditional turf cutting, drying
Lazy beds
Herds of sheep
Appropriate or inappropriate development of houses, roads, amenities

Please send whatever you may have to group@mountainviews.ie The immediate purpose of this is to help another organisation Irish Uplands Forum, however the more I think about it, the more useful it may be for MountainViews to maintain a growing collection of upland and coastal usage photos for various future uses. So, photographers, don't delete those odd pictures you have taken. Send them here.

The photo shows the Megalithic Tomb adjacent to the summit of this small hill which is an easy accent from the old turf cutting track located at G0018340427.
