The Paddy Dillon Challenge...
...from Coomcallee half way down the Dunkerrons to Crohane at the eastern end of the Mangertons. Mentioned it a good few weeks back, but Scavvy and Blaskets kinda dominated things here since. So guess this hovers back into the agenda again...or at least mine! Know one or two others here said to keep them posted of plans though.
Anyway, the bad news is that I was up Coomcallee with jackill recently and was reminded of how long it can take just to get in to the Dunkerrons at that end. So while I have done all the mountains in each range, looking at doing them in just 3 stages would be pretty daunting. The other bad news is of course the days are shortening, again making 3 stages even less likely. The good news is that my running career is on hold freeing up more weekends, the bad news is that this is because of an ankle problem so not sure how easy it will be to get out on the hills again. The good news is that the stages can be halved, neatly dividing the 3 into 6 (and meaning Coomcallee-Knocknagantee-Ballaghbeama-Lough Brin-Molls Gap-Kenmare-Crohane). The bad news is that they all mean two cars are necessary. The good news is that the weather can hardly get any worse. The bad news is that...it might! |
