Carnavaddy / Carrickrawor
Val Jones has pointed out that the peak in the Cooley Mountains listed on MV as Carrickrawor is better known as Carnavaddy (475m, J113 138). On the Discovery map the summit cairn is indicated as an antiquity but the peak itself is unnamed. The name Carrickrawor appears some distance to the east of the summit. I agree with Val's comment that "I know this mountain as Carnawaddy, and as far as I know, that is what it is known locally as." The name Carnavaddy is given on the 'TŠin Way Map Guide'. It is partly my own fault that the name Carnavaddy was not on it when we put together the 400m list earlier this year. I have it as Carnavaddy or Carnawaddy in my own database, but I just failed to match it up. Thanks very much to Val for alerting us to this inaccuracy. The details will be amended shortly on the MV site. Regards, Paul.
