Joe Brown in our midst...
Semi-returning to the subject of the hardest MV summit to reach...I was doing a spot of research for the coming Saturday's pirate voyage off the end of Dingle when my eye was caught by the ratings for An Tiaracht, maybe (with the possible exception of the genuine highpoint of Great Skellig) the toughest proposition listed herein. Well, somebody has evidently rated it as less than a 'Good Challenge'.

If An Tiaracht isn't that much of a big deal to someone, I must salute them, and point them in the direction of some objectives far more worthy of their talents. How's about the unclimbed North West Face of the Devils Thumb in Alaska, a mountain wall that has killed over half of those who've set foot on it? Or possibly the Fantasy Ridge on Everest, the last significant feature on the world's highest peak yet to be done?Or closer to home 'The Indian Face', Johnny Dawes' legendary death route on Snowdon's Clogwyn d'ur Arddu still awaits an on-sight ascent.

Fantastic walk, personally feel it's best starting your approach from Glenbeigh village and heading up through the forest as it's quite well signposted. Once leaving the cover of the trees, we wer...

An easy to access and navigate hill, well worth it for its central position and views in every direction. Park as previously suggested at L8530 4820 and head north east before swinging north. The ...

Though the road near L88003920 appears unfenced you will encounter a fence very soon after leaving the road. This fence extends along this back road, Bothar na Scrathóg and keeps cattle in typical...

Pleasantly surprised by this, could clearly see Lugnaquilla and Croaghanmoira, as well as numerous other summits, slightly awkward entry into the fields just west of the forest which don't appear ...

Found this easy to bag using the tracks via Sleamaine marked on "east-west mapping" map, including the forest ride. Track uploaded for anyone with an interest but given recent tree felling on the ...
