The Blaskets - you on the list?
Going to contact the boat owner and confirm the 8th September. Just to ensure I am not overlooking anyone, the following people have contacted me and confirmed interest (I am using the names used here)...

Not sure if anyone has the contact details of those from Birdwatch Ireland who went to Puffin Island last year. I know of 4 or 5 other friends here in South Kerry who may hop on the boat, if there is room.

To avoid disappointment, I should point out now that it is not uncommon for the boats to be beaten by the weather. So you may undertake a long journey to get here only to be frustrated. Even when it seems pretty calm, I have seen boatowners refuse to go out. The problem is not so much the crossing, its the ability to get people on and off islands with no piers where you may be jumping from a boat onto rocks, and a swell can be dangerous.

Anyone who goes will have to acknowledge that they read and accept the following. It may seem a bit cautious, but this poster and this site cannot expose itself to any risk whatsoever, no matter how remote. And the boatowner too has asked us to be clear in this regard. EVERYONE WHO GOES SHOULD BE FIT, HEALTHY AND MUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEMSELVES. Neither this poster nor this site accept responsibility whatsoever for any injuries to any person, however incurred. The boatowner's insurance may cover us for certain matters when on the boat, but once anyone takes a step off onto any island, they are responsible for themselves and their own health and safety. People must accept and appreciate that neither I nor the people of Mountainviews.ie have ever been on the islands and have no knowledge of them nor is anyone holding themselves out as a guide or having any expertise or skill in that area. And we are not taking any money for the event. I am merely arranging a boat that will head out to the various Blaskets, anyone who decides to take up the spin does so entirely at their own risk, and once they step off the boat they are liable for their own safety.
