Re Achill Head, Maurice 12
Sounds like a route worth doing! Perhaps other Mv members can be of more assistance, but I went as far as spot height 266m which is just before the dog-leg WSW out to the Head whilst on a route from Keem up to the summits of Craoghaun, and attached is a link to some photos I took looking out towards Achill Head. These give some limited idea of the topography:

Looking at the OSI map, the steepest ground is likely to be descending out from pt. 225m (F52808 05622). Bear in mind though that OSI, unlike their counterparts in the OSNI (Northern Ireland), and perhaps to avoid clutter, rely on contours and shading to indicate terrain and don't use symbols to indicate cliffs etc.

Think none of the Scavvies so far have tackled the Dunkerrons, and the Cloon Horseshoe at its heart - Mullaghanattin, Beann, Finnararagh and then moving all the way on to Knocknagantee and swingin...

This summit can be reached using the ridge extending NE from Croaghbarnes and there are suggestions it could be reached from Commeen to the north on the R253. Cronamuck has views over towards Gau...
