The summit?
I think you have to at least touch the very highest point, and unless there is some serious risk involved or it is impracticable, like a cairn that you do not want to damage, one really has to stand on the highest point.

The one that interested me was Cruach Mhór. Had it ticked off ages ago...then saw someone recently climbing on top of the grotto itself to get to the definitive top. But think to advocate that would inevitably damage the grotto itself and could cause serious injury to anyone atop it if it gave way.
