The Blaskets - I think I have das boot
...spoke with a Mick Sheeran of Eco Marine Tours. He charters boats around the Blaskets and says he can land us on Inistooskert and Inis na Bro, and if we get permission from the Haugheys (he said they will know him so if we say his name this should be okay) he will get us on to Inisvickillaune too which he says has some great ancient ruins. He said he is used to landing people on those islands, but on the other hand said to make sure that the people on the trip are fairly fit/experienced - he said he recently had an issue where a film crew with equipment could not get on so don't expect neat piers. He has a couple of different boats and a dingy, taking up to 44 people, so price will vary on numbers and time of the year. Told him I thought it might be about 15 but no idea yet, but he seemed to be suggesting that to charter him for the day could be between 800-1000, which I guess would work out at something similar to the Puffin Island trip. He said we should check about insurance, while he has it for the boats of course he makes no representations about the islands and our time there is our risk. He said because of landing issues again Teeraght is really off limits, though I guess he could bring us around it. Finally he said that July and August are not great, in that its the busiest time for boat operators so the price would reflect loss of work, but September would be the best time.

Hope all that helps. Said I'd get back to him either way in a week or 2. His site is...
