Re Islands of Adventure 2
Watching the YouTube video of our previous island trip brought back all the positive memories of the day. There's something special about exploring remote and rarely-visited islands, with the added excitement of being the first modern pioneers to bring back descriptions of what is to be found there. I'd love to participate in another Journey into the Unknown. Various factors have meant that some research I was doing into another such escapade went by the wayside. I would be free to participate from early August onwards. Birdwatch Ireland may very well be interested in joining us again as they equally find it hard to access the remote islands.
I previously uploaded photos of Inis na Bṛ which I took from the air. These show the possibilitiy of landing by boat on the eastern side of the island. Having been to An Tiaracht twice I can advise offer some advice there also.
Oh, I feel the stirring of the explorer in me. The scent of the salty sea assails my nostrils as it roils and boils and lashes against the rocks on which we are trying to land. The cry of the kittiwake and the gulls as they wheel about us, trying to figure out who these alien intruders are. The comical puffins shuffling on the rocks. The wild goats and the wilder vegetation. The awe of each new view and discovery. The comradship and camaraderie of like-minded souls. The laughter and conversation, the inward reflection and inner peace. The sheer adventure of it all. Count me in! |
