Dirty Dozen ?
As a contrast to the Top 5 debate on this forum can I suggest we need a list of routes to be avoided. I was climbing Lugnaquilla by the Camara Hill route earlier this week. The popularity of this route is leading to serious erosion and an ever widening path. I will avoid this route in the future. There is an alternative route from Aughavanagh which I plan to use on my next visit.
It would be useful if this website included a list of similar badly eroded routes and possible alternatives. We complain about quad bikes on the hills, but hundreds of pairs of boots can also do a lot of damage.
My second suggestion for the 'black list' is Djouce. Again the popularity of this hill is its downfall.
Any other routes to be avoided? |
