Mountain Skills 1 course 9th-10th June
Hi everyone,
We have just added additional date- 9-10th June.
This 2 day course is recognised by BOS(Bord Oiliúint Sléibhe, which is the Irish Mountain Training Board).No longer will you get lost while out with your local hillwalking club or social walking group.This course is designed to give you the skills and confidence to navigate correctly and keep safe in the great outdoors.Whether you wish to do this course for your own personal enjoyment and knowledge, lead a walking group or a step towards a Walking Guide Qualification this is the course for you..
The Course is run by a qualified and recognised BOS Instructor Emily Mc Cullagh who is an excellent instructor and also numerous years experience on the hills herself.
This course will take place in the Wicklow Mountains over 2 days. Giving you the chance to put all the theory you will have gained into practice.
The course will take place in the Glenmalure area of Wicklow both in a classroom and the outdoors.
The Mountain Skills Part I Course Includes:
MS1: During this weekend you will learn about map-reading and navigation techniques, recognition of natural features, distance measurement and timing of walks.
Mountain hazards are also covered, as is personal equipment such as correct clothing and emergency equipment.

simon3 a week ago. The NE spur off Lackabane is something of a knife edge, descending steeply and with even steeper sides. Watch it on a poor day. |
