Irish Times on "Peak Bagging in south"
That august body, the Irish Times or at least a writer in its Sat April 21st 2012 Magazine, one Tony Doherty has noticed the "Arderin" bug.

"I was lazily putting my boots on in a lay-by recently when a car zoomed up, screeched to a halt, disgorged three already kitted out climbers who shot off up the track calling out to the driver, 'See you on the other side around six'."

"Upon inquiring of the motorist I discovered that these driven individuals were engaged in bagging 'Arderins' - peaks whose summits are over 500m, of which there are 458 in Ireland [ actually there are 408 at present ]. If you are well organised and fit, you can bag 15 or more in day apparently."

So who of us was it in the Shehy/Knockboys ?! Own up.
How long will this Tony Doherty resist the bug is the next question.
Finally he says "I do hope I have not created any Arderin widows or widowers as result of this article".

What can you say to this? Well it's cheaper than golf and this website at least does promote an attempt to understand the countryside as well as just visit the tops.
