distancefading on Mweelrea
Just when I was about to launch a massive attack on Paul Henry, the deceased mountain painter, I was thrilled to the core yet again by another distancefading classic on YouTube. Thank you scannerman for pointing me in the right direction. distancefading produces mountain videos in a style that is as quirky as the music he chooses. Unlike Paul Henry who drains the colour out of every piece, distancefading manages to find rich hues in what would normally be a cloudy morass on Mayo's west coast. The mad reds in the mountain moss: the cobalt blues. I find it remarkably reassuring to see his young lady assistant STILL trudging up these damp heaps in the name of Art: this muse who brings human perspective and scale to the our western beasts. distancefading I salute you. Paul Henry: your Mum was right - you should have stuck to the day job. |
