Safety in numbers
Mountainviews help walker/ hikers and others to record/”bag” mountain achievements. It certainly helps and promotes hill walking in Ireland for which I am grateful especially for those that help maintain and keep the website going. Last year I have managed to bag over 70-80 mountains which I recorded via mountainviews . Some of us “bag” mountains alone due since these bags are normally off the normal beating track. Sometimes we may consider it risky but to reduce the risk, the lone walker may wish to take the support of others in the same predicament. This would help improve safety. So what do we do? An idea would be perhaps if we could “forecast a walk for a mountain” i.e. leave a message in a calendar related to a mountain for a particular time and event for others to accept the offer of a shared walk. Or perhaps a route card!!. Feedback. There are positives and negatives for this comment but I welcome the feedback for this.
