Kerry Ringfort
With reference to the €25,000 fine for destruction of the Kerry rath - I dare say, if there is such a thing as the afterlife, that Liam Price must be smiling. He was a district justice in Wicklow in the 1920 - 1950 period and his frustration with the destruction of raths and all manner of archaelogical remains is quite palpable in his published notebooks. There's a marked increase in his ire after 'the emergency' when mechanical excavators seem to have become more common. |
