National Parks for Northern Ireland?
There is still time to comment on the department of the environments' white paper on 'Enabling Legislation for National Parks. This consultation offers the chance for the consultee to voice their support for the creation of National Parks in Northern Ireland.

Being a white paper all submissions and comments count. So, not only is a short email stating you support the creation of national parks valid, but the consultation also allows you to raise any other issue you feel is relevant to the creation or governance of National Parks.

For example, the DOE suggest that the current legislation is adequate regarding walkers access & owner / occupier liability for any proposed National Parks. Many hillwalkers and climbers regard this not to be the case. So a comment in support of a change in the current legislation, regarding better provision of access for walkers, and owner / occupiers legislation would be valid.

Send your email submissions to :-

national.parks@doeni.gov.uk

For those who would like to read the full Consultation Document, here is a link to the DOE website, where you can download them in a PDF format.

http://www.doeni.gov.uk/index/protect_the_environment/natural_environment/national_parks.htm

The consultation is open till Monday 31st October 2011.

This oddly named hill is more a very minor heathery bump incorporated into the system of tracks laid out by the Wicklow Mountains National Park. It can be reached from any of the western car-parks...
