Mournes 7X7s
The Mourne Mountains 7X7s Challenge Walk rises from its fitful slumber Sat August 6th – that is next Saturday.
It is horrible and comprises ascents of 7 tops over 700ms.
The Spartan Redsocks run the thing and details are on its website.
If you are thinking of going, be there at Donard carpark Newcastle Co Down, to set off between 7am (God help us…) and 9am (not much better ….).
A tenner (British) to get in and the money goes to charity – maybe you will too, at the end of it.
It is a good thing to do – a great achievement – and if the weather is half decent well, the Mournes are magnificent.
A few of us from mountainviews are “doing” it and it would be good to see more – so if the notion takes you, be there.
For any info, you can get me on the messaging thing here on mviews or perhaps see you on the day.

Croghan Hill is one of the main reasons I came to Ireland. I am researching Old Croghan Man for a book. Even with Mel's precise directions we had a little trouble finding the community centre. It ...

Fantastic walk, personally feel it's best starting your approach from Glenbeigh village and heading up through the forest as it's quite well signposted. Once leaving the cover of the trees, we wer...

An easy to access and navigate hill, well worth it for its central position and views in every direction. Park as previously suggested at L8530 4820 and head north east before swinging north. The ...

Though the road near L88003920 appears unfenced you will encounter a fence very soon after leaving the road. This fence extends along this back road, Bothar na Scrathóg and keeps cattle in typical...
