Not sure what you mean by binding at the heel, is that the bar that wraps around the heel? It's metal, not plastic, as with the pic. I really just want them to be able to get out on the Reeks or Dunkerrons in the snow, so would be mixed walking along with maybe ascending the gullies. Certainly would not be clinging to sheer drops, but on the other hand it wouldn't be for just trudging along in snow either.

As for Imelda Marcos, I think I married her. Our house aint big enough for another extensive footwear collection!
