Crampons and Boots
Conor74, what type of fitting does the G12's have? If they have 'classic' binding at the heel then they might work with your boots at a pinch so long as the sole of the boots is not too curved. Have you tried to fit them? The danger might be that the crampons come off or break (due to a too flexible sole). If you just intend to stick to walks in the snow then maybe you might be OK but tackling exposed routes without proper four season boots in winter might be a bit risky.
It is quite common for mountaineers to have several different sets of boots depending upon the terrain and altitude. Of course this costs but at least the wear is also spread across different boots extending their life. Someone once joked that if you are seriously into mountaineering all year round then you will have more pairs of boots than Imelda Marcos had shoes!
