Scavenger 6 - Coumloughra, April 2 2011
The Scavenger walks are making a return to their birthplace Kerry.
These are walks organised by MViews members for MViews members(and their friends)

The route will be the Coumloghra Horseshoe, anti-clockwise, starting from the hydro road.
Look up "http://mountainviews.ie/walk/99/ " for the route description.
This is the classic horseshoe walk in the Reeks.
It takes in Irelands 3 highest mountains and also 4 of our 900s in one long, tough day walk.
It also features some scrambling and exposure on one of the most talked about ridges in the country.
In all we will summit 8 MViews tops, Caher West Top - Caher - Carrauntoohil - The Bones - Beenkeragh - Stumpa Bharr na hAbhann - Skregmore - Cnoc Iochtair.

The last Scavenger in Wicklow was organised by Wicklore and Brenno, it was a great day (and night) attended by 26 MViews members.

As we have said above the walk is open to all MountainViews members(and their friends) and is free. The only requirement is that all those attending have the right wet weather clothing/gear/boots and are fit enough for a day in the hills.
A head for heights is also essential there is short exposed section of the ridge from the top of O'Sheas gully to the Bones.
Weather conditions will play a part and if the leaders feel conditions are risky then we may need to consider alternatives.

The walk leaders will be jackill and Bleck Cra.

We are going to base ourselves in Killarney, the date is Saturday April 2nd.

We will meet at the Lidl car park between 8.30am and 9am and organise a car share to the start point , this will be necessary due to the very limited parking available at the start point.

We propose also we have a meal that evening at 7.30pm in the Caragh restaurant.
This place serves good basic food(and drink!) so hopefully it will suit us all.
Adjourn afterwards to a hostelry for the night.

There is lots of accomodation available in Killarney, try to base yourself in the town centre or as close to it as possible as taxis can be an issue on weekends.

Now if you haven't been to a scavvie before, please consider coming, we are always happy to meet members and can guarantee a good walk with friendly company and above all great craic.

You can email me at project@mountainviews.ie for more details/information or by sending a message to jackill through the members messaging service.

If you think you may attend please drop me a line.
