Howling Ridge and Pipets Ridge - anyone tried
I am not a mountaineer, I do not do rock climbing in the classic sense of dangling from a rock by a few fingesr while the other scrabbles for a ball of chalk, I know nothing of rope techniques, karabinners and belays. I like hillwalking and a good scramble, preferably with a bit of exposure for the adrenaline rush. I have gone through all the routes to the Reeks listed in Jim Ryans book, the approaches from the Eastern Reeks, the Black and Bridia Valleys, the 3 gulleys, Stumpa an tSaimh and Beenkeragh Ridge, the Heavenly Gates etc. etc.

So now I am left with the great unknown, the ridges to the east of the summit. Are these out of the question without ropes and years of climbing experience? Is it possible to attempt, them safely, with a reasonably good head for heights and a level of fitness (not saying I have either mind)? Or are there parts which simply cannot be overcome without technical climbing skills?
