The upper crust of winter equipment!
Hi Weedavie,

We know that type of snow well over here too!! Because the MSR Lightening Ascent has an aggressive crampon unit underneath, crusty and crumbling old snow should pose no problem and upward/onward traction should be assured! We climbed Lugnaquilla in ours in January in that type of snow on the lower slopes and we also climbed 23kms and 5343 feet (1629 m) to the top of Mount Marcy in the Adirondacks through deep snow lower down and in appalling conditions (a blizzard in sub zero temperatures with rock and icy patches near the summit) in March. They have proved to be very comfortable and reliable on all terrain types we have used them on. I absolutely love them and I think they are quite possibly the upper crust of winter equipment! It's a shame that shops don't stock them here in Ireland.
