Doug Scott lectures
Kernowclimber and I are just back from a lecture by the world renowned climber and mountaineer Doug Scott. The lecture series and proceeds from sales of books, prints and woollen goods made in Nepal are all in aid of the Umbrella Foundation which aims to relieve proverty for the children of Nepal. The talk in Dublin was excellent and well attended. There are further talks in Galway, Cork and Waterford. For more details see http://www.umbrellanepal.org/insidepage.php?id=45&subid=72&nid=116. My only association with Doug is to have done an easy rock climb in Derbyshire with him when I was at school. After that he went higher and I went lower (down caves).

Robber's Pass Hill: Minor heathery lump. Overcivilised and underwhelming.
Collaborative entry Last edit by: simon3 a week ago.
This oddly named hill is more a very minor heathery bump incorporated into the system of tracks laid out by the Wicklow Mountains National Park. It can be reached from any of the western car-parks...

Croaghmoyle: Easy walk up to great views

Low lying cloud/mist/fog discouraged me from putting the effort into going up Nephin today. On the way home I parked at the start of the Croaghmoyle service road and followed it past a wind turbin...
