Re: Annalong Horseshoe Walk
hbowman, was actually thinking of doing this walk yesterday but didn't get up there in the end. I had a sight variation in mind in that I was going to take in Chimney Rock as it and Cove are the only two of the Mournes featured in Paddy Dillon's 'Mountains of Ireland' that I haven't yet climbed. The Route would be from Carrick Little to Binnian (tough enough climb to start off), then across to the North Tors before dropping and making another steep climb up Lamagan. Once up there, you keep height to take in Cove and Beg before dropping down to the Brandy Pad. I was going to take this to the stile at the Bog of Donard before heading up and down Chimney Rock. The wall can then be followed down by Long Seefin and down to the road (do not cross Annalong River and head up the slopes to Annalong Forest - done this before and it's very ardous going)... I think I have a book at home that has the route and suggested time-scale so I'll take a look and let you know.
Paul
