Re: ATVs on Knockmealdown
As a follow on to my previous post, I have checked with the Parks & Wildlife website and the Knockmealdowns are not a protected habitat (SAC/NHA), nor is it one of the 13 areas in which the Minister recently baned off-road vehicles. Thus I would guess that only the landowner(s) could stop them with a civil claim for damages or by applying for a court injunction against the inividuals. Nevertheless it is still valuable to report cases of off-road vehicles and damage to Mountaineering Ireland (contact Helen Lawless helen@mountaineering.ie ) as MI are hoping to meet with the Minister in the Autumn to discuss damage by off-road vehicles.
