Viviparous Lizard
I was delighted to spot an Irish common lizard on Hangman's Hill in Leitrim yesterday. It was the second one I've spotted in Ireland, and I feel all the more priveleged considering many people don't even realise Ireland has a native reptile, let alone ever spotted one. I've cropped the picture to try and bring some of the detail of its head forward, but in the process the lizard's long tail has been cut out. Biology.ie have constant Irish wildlife surveys in progress (including roadkill surveys). It is possible to log sightings of lizards there at http://www.biology.ie/sub-step2.php?m=lizards&s=835. They also seek sightings of toads, slow worms, Kerry slugs, wildflowers, lichens and butterflys to name but a few.

MountainViews member three5four0 reported seeing many lizards in his recent post on Coolcross Hill in Donegal. Perhaps the long run of warm weather has resulted in a bumper year for the lizards?

Topped Mountain: Short & simple

A simple little Minion to climb (the name Topped 'Mountain' is a bit of a stretch). A gravel path & steps from a carpark will see you reach the top in about 15 minutes, and you won't even need you...

A fine hill with a well defined summit and great views. Plenty of parking spots along the R254 directly to the south of the summit. From there it's a relatively simple 1km climb to the top.
