Ireland's Most Difficult Summit?
Was up Slieve Bearnagh for the first time a few months ago, and I was struck by how awkward it was to get to the top, which of course is on top of the tor. You could imagine a lot of people being unable, unwilling or even not bothered to make the final scramble.
So It led me to wondering which of Ireland's summits might be regarded as being toughest or most difficult. From my experiences, here's a few nominations...
1. Slieve Bearnagh
2. The Big Gun
3. The Bones (formerly The Tooth)
4. Ben Lugmore (Tough ascent and narrow ridge)
5. Nephin (Unrelenting slog)
