Choreography
A "One All Draw" can be either a victory or a defeat. Everything depends on the sequence. When Holland scores in the ninth minute and Ireland responds with an equaliser in injury time, THAT is a victory. But the other way around is a defeat. This is because of the universal law that true satisfaction may only be obtained where pain PRECEDES pleasure. Mountain folk know this instinctively. Wise leaders plan routes according to these principles. Thus it was that David Flood brought the Navan Trekkers along the northern base of Slieve Foye in the Cooleys last Sunday so that the ascent actually occurred on the Newry side. There followed a series of digressions ...manoevres...which amounted to subtle drilling. And then we walked along the rocky outcrops on Foye's spine and saw stupendous views in all directions. This is a magic mountain...all the more magic for approaching it the right way!
