Sending Emerald Island maps to your GPS
For the last two versions of Pazapas's excellent Emerald Island maps, I was only getting the contour maps down onto my GPS. The OpenStreetMap layer and DEM layers were missing, even though I could see them fine using RoadTrip or MapSource on a Mac or PC. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong until Pazapas put me on the right track, so to speak! The Emerald Island TOP layer actually has four sub-layers associated with it, and these must be selected in turn. Each sublayer is slightly wider than the previous one, so if you do your first click on Ireland, then shift-click another three times, stepping further out from the west coast each time, you should be able to select all four sublayers.

The screenshot shows this being done with Garmin's Mac software. Note the "Maps (4)" text on the drop-down menu, which tells me I've successfully selected the four sub-layers of the TOP layer. I'm sure there's something similar in MapSource for the PC to show this being done.
I'm just wondering.. by exaisle   (Show all posts)

Might be worth adding that Ballymoyle Hill might be more appropriate name for this height. Called that in Coillte records. Whilst Barranisky is spelt thus on OS six inch maps, note that Hall Nevil...

I think the highest point is likely about 175 metres in a WSW direction from the mast. I'm judging this from aerial photography and DTM which shows a rocky outcrop in a small forest clearing. DTM ...
