Lough Dan
Walk towards the lake from the ruined cottages at the head of Lough Dan, keeping close to where the flat marsh meets the slope of the hill. You will meet a silted artificial channel which opens into the lake. It is clearly visible on Google Earth or on the OSI map viewer. Has anyone any idea what the purpose of this was and when it was dug?

The oak grove at the western end of the alluvial plain, beside the Inchavore River seems to be known locally as Johnnie's Oaksits and may refer to one of the inhabitants of the deserted village. Has anyone any idea who Johnny was? Was he connected with the Glen Muire boulder? If not does anyone know who carved this and when?

Robber's Pass Hill: Minor heathery lump. Overcivilised and underwhelming.

This oddly named hill is more a very minor heathery bump incorporated into the system of tracks laid out by the Wicklow Mountains National Park. It can be reached from any of the western car-parks...
