Missing summits
Hello everybody. I´m a new member on this useful site and want to know, why there is Diamond Hill (12 Bens) or The Black Banks (Blackstairs Mts.) missing? They have more than 500 m.... Or how can I put some summits, if I can? Good luck

Pico del Teide, Tenerife (Expand pics)
Teide
Pico del Teide at 3718m is the highest point not only in Tenerife but also in Spain.

The vast lava field in the foreground is from an eruption that occured around 1798 from the neighbouring Pico Viejo.

Although Teide has been dormant since the middle ages its summit vents sulphur and sulphur dioxide.

A great climb!

Litter...
Hello Nicky. I agree, that would be an effective way of combating the problem. I camp frequently around the Loughshannagh and Doan area, and the amount of rubbish people leave at their backsides is appalling. They don't seem to give a damn about the mountains, or anybody else for that matter. I would advise people to pick up any rubbish they find while walking or camping in the Mournes, and not to just leave it for someone else to worry about. If everyone did this, I'm sure it would make a huge difference. And yes, I'm very lucky where I live! I have perfect access to the Mournes! They really are a magical place, and it's a shame to see them being spoiled like this.

LITTER
Alex you are right. Recently I climbed Doan, Loughshannagh etc and the rubbish in this area was disgusting. Some of us should get a group together and be responsible for tidying this sacred area. You are so lucky to live so close to the Mournes! Jammy!

Litter...
Why are the Mournes becoming occupied with litter? You would find more Buckie bottles in the Annalong Wood than in a large off-licence, and in the area around Loughshannagh you could create a shelter out of pot noodle containers that would house a family of Croatian refugees. However, these areas weren't always in this state. This is a problem which has become far worse over the past few years, and it isn't getting better. But what can be done about it?

Rebel's Cave
The coordinates for the Rebel's Cave are T: 07566 93706. I climbed directly up from the tarmac road on the valley floor a few summers ago. It involved a bit of heavy going through some rough heather. Unfortunately, when I returned home later I found myself infested with several ticks for my troubles! A more civilised higher approach from the forest fence to the east or the Lugduff ridge above would circumvent such infested vegetation :)
